Thunderstorms to kick off next week

(TULSA, Okla.) Thicker clouds will begin to increase Sunday night from south to north in advance of an approaching upper wave. Temperatures should fall off fairly quickly Sunday evening across the north. Areas of rain will move into southeast Oklahoma Monday morning, spreading across the remainder of the area Monday afternoon/night. Elevated instability should be sufficient for a few elevated thunderstorms embedded in the more widespread rain. Heavy rainfall will be possible through Monday night with locally greater than one inch forecast over parts of Southeast Oklahoma into Northwest Arkansas. Severe weather chances appear very slim. Lingering rain showers will continue into the day Tuesday on the backside of the departing upper system. Rainfall totals between 0.5-1.0 inch still look on track with slightly higher amounts possible across southeast Oklahoma. Dry conditions are expected on Wednesday before precipitation chances slowly increase Thursday into Friday. Moisture return will initially be limited, however there is still the potential for a few storms across northeast Oklahoma Thursday. Low-level moisture will continue to lift north into the region, and storms chances will begin to increase Thursday night into Friday as the next cold front moves into the area. There is a low chance of precipitation into Saturday. Monday Showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 1pm. High near 69. Light east wind becoming southeast 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Monday Night Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 50. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northeast after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible. Tuesday Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 63. North wind around 5 mph.
