Storm chances return Wednesday into Thursday
OklahomaWeather
(TULSA, Okla.) An upper ridge continued to build over the central and southern plains Sunday leading to dry conditions but increasingly warmer temperatures and more humidity. Confidence in an upper low and a weak frontal boundary producing a few showers and storms appears to be increasing a little for Wednesday into Thursday. The best chances for storms will be during peak diurnal heating each day. An isolated storm or two could be strong to severe, but widespread severe storms are not expected at this time given a lack of favorable shear.
Past Thursday, the upper level ridge looks to re-intensify which will continue the hot and muggy trend with heat indices in the mid-90s with upper 90s possible.
The Gulf of Mexico will need to be watched closely for tropical activity along with the track of a potential area of interest. This could bring shower and storm activity to parts of Eastern Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas after next weekend.
