High temps and thunderstorms predicted next week

(TULSA, Okla.) Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue through the first part of the upcoming week, especially across the southeast half of the forecast area, which will remain nearest to a persistent weakness aloft. An upper ridge will begin to build east into the area during the latter half of the week into next weekend, with The Global Forecast System still much more aggressive at building the ridge over us. Other models keep us along the eastern periphery of the ridge, and prone to thunderstorm system activity. The greatest system potential appears to be late Thursday into Friday, so will focus late week precipitation changes during this time frame. Temperatures will gradually warm as the week progresses, with Friday potentially seeing a setback in the warmup. We went a bit cooler than the National Blend of Models forecast for high temperatures late this week into next weekend. Monday A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm.
