(TULSA, Okla.) On Monday, officers were called to the scene of a seriously injured motorcyclist that was struck by a 16-year-old driver. This avoidable wreck was due to an ongoing road rage.

There is a bunch to unpack here.

A motorist was traveling northbound on HWY 169 when he witnessed the 16-year-old suspect try to merge onto the highway. Instead of yielding to traffic, as he was supposed to do, the 16-year-old expected that the other cars were going to yield as he aggressively merged into them.

Seemingly frustrated, the 16-year-old threw a water bottle at the witness and continued to drive aggressively weaving in and out of traffic.

The witness kept a distance behind the suspect to get his tag and call the police. The suspect then got off the highway at 61st St. and went eastbound. He continued to drive aggressively, still weaving in and out of traffic.

The 16-year-old was driving down the center turning lanes between east and west traffic.

A motorcycle rider was turning north onto 116th East Ave., when he was hit by the teenager, who was driving a white Ford Focus.

The motorcyclist was seriously injured, fortunately his injuries were not life threatening and he was transported to the hospital.

As it turns out the 16-year-old only had a learner permit and not a valid driver’s license, we cited him for the following and released him to his parents at the scene:

• No valid Driver’s License
• Reckless Driving
• Throwing an object at a moving vehicle

It should be noted that these actions could cause the 16-year-old to not be able to get a license until he is at least 18 years old.

Please be careful as you travel.
