Well above normal temperatures for the week ahead
(TULSA, Okla.) The main forecast concern Sunday afternoon is the potential for another round of late night and early morning fog Monday in far eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. Otherwise, there currently does not look like much in the way of impactful weather until possibly late next weekend.
Low level moisture across far eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas remains on the higher side, with much of that area still seeing surface dew points in the lower 60s. This is a good starting point for the likely redevelopment of fog after midnight, as surface high pressure noses further into the area overnight. Much of the digital visibility guidance shows widespread visibilities of a mile or less, coinciding with the above rationale. Confidence in the areal coverage of any dense fog is
not high enough for an advisory but we will pass along concerns to the next shift.
Into next week, an upper-level low will meander around the Mississippi Valley region just to our east, keeping the area in a relatively dry and cool northerly flow through the middle part of the work week. A few showers may sneak into parts of northwest Arkansas Wednesday afternoon (possibly Tuesday as well but that’s less certain), as the low makes its closest approach with its attendant wraparound moisture. Afternoon temperatures through Wednesday should be a few degrees above normal.
Late in the week and into next weekend, upper-level ridging will build into the region, bringing continued dry weather and much above normal temperatures. Localized fire weather concerns could
develop, depending on how fuels have reacted to the recent rains.
Toward the end of next weekend and the following work week, shower and thunderstorm chances increase and temperatures decrease as a storm system approaches from the west.
