(TULSA, Okla.) It was a warm and breezy day ahead of the approaching cold front, which will be moving into northeast Oklahoma over the next couple of hours. Timing remains consistent with the front clearing northwest Arkansas and southeast Oklahoma by late evening.

Storms are expected to develop along the front by mid to late afternoon Sunday with highest chances across far northeast Oklahoma and spreading through far northwest Arkansas with the frontal passage. Sufficient instability and shear profiles will support a risk of severe storms. Any pre-frontal storms or storms which can outpace the advancing the front will have the highest potential of more significant severe weather. The passage of the front will mark the end of the severe weather threat for any specific location.

The vigorous storm system impacting northern California Sunday will rapidly dig across the desert Southwest through the early part of the work week, impacting the area through the middle part of the week.

Shower and thunderstorm chances will begin to increase Tuesday night into Wednesday with widespread rainfall expected in the 1-to-2-inch range. Lighter wrap-around precipitation could linger through much of the day Thursday with cool and breezy conditions persisting into Friday as large scale upper low moves across the southeast continental United States.
