TPD cracking down on seatbelt and child restraint violations

(TULSA, Okla.) During the month of February, Tulsa Police will focus on seatbelt and child restraint enforcement within the entire city.  Traffic and motorcycle officers will be randomly monitoring areas throughout the city during this focused enforcement action.  A citation issued for failure to wear a properly fastened seat belt is $20 and a citation issued for failure to use a mandatory child restraint is $50; NO WARNINGS will be issued. The Tulsa Police Department reminds drivers to use their seatbelts at all times, properly restrain any child passenger remain alert, refrain from using all electronic communication devices and to always properly secure their seatbelt and to properly secure any children in the vehicle in a proper child restraint system.  Improper occupant protection usage is a leading factor in serious injury and fatality collisions.
