(TULSA, Okla.) SHIELD616 presented 33 armor packages to police officers from the Tulsa Police Department on Wednesday. The donation was made possible due to the generosity of the Chapman Foundation in Tulsa. In 2018, The Chapman Foundation learned of the mission of SHIELD616 and made the decisions to get involved in their mission. The Chapman Foundation generously donated $50,000 to outfit 33 officers with rifle-rated ballistic armor. SHIELD616 said they are honored and blessed to present armor to 33 Tulsa police officers. Although SHIELD616 is operating in 18 states, this presentation is the first in Oklahoma. It is SHIELD616's hope and prayer this will be the first of many presentations. They also thanked Kirk of the Hills Church for opening their doors to host the event. Additionally, members of the congregation will be attending to be a "support team" for the officers selected to receive the gear. About SHIELD616: SHIELD616 was formed with the peace officer patrol in mind and have since seen the need to help protect all first responders. The goal of SHIELD616 is two-fold. First, they want to equip every first responder with the necessary advanced active shooter/crowd control gear. Second, they want to provide a support group for that first responder who will pray for the first responder and his or her family on a daily basis and provide the first responder with support and encouragement throughout the year. SHIELD616 is mindful of limited department budgets. Not only will all gear be donated; it will be replaced every five years at no cost to any first responder or department. SHIELD is unique and was formed with the vision of having local individuals, churches, bible study groups, businesses, and foundations "invest in a first responder" not only financially, but also personally.
