(TULSA, Okla.) During Tuesday night's downpour Hiep Tran was driving his car and hydroplaned off of the road at the Hwy 51 and Hwy 169 interchange. With the rising waters and strong current, he and his car were swept down the Mingo Creek. Tulsa Police received a call about it when it happened, Tulsa Fire Department and Tulsa Police responded and attempted to locate the vehicle. Unfortunately, first responders were unable to locate the car at that time. Wednesday morning, with receding waters, Tulsa Fire resumed the search for the car. A citizen called in and reported seeing the top of a submerged car in the creek. TFD and TPD responded to the location and found the victim still in his vehicle. The current carried the car over a mile away from where it entered the water. At the time of the incident, the water would have covered the car by several feet, making it impossible to see. Our condolences go out to the family.
