(TULSA, Okla.) Tropical Storm Barry is expected to move north into the Arklatex (the U.S. socio-economic region where the three Southern states of Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas touch) by Sunday night and then lift northeast across Arkansas on Monday. Isolated to scattered showers and storms (the outer bands) resulted Sunday in the easterly flow north of the cyclone. After sunset, precipitation chances will be confined closer to the center of the storm as it makes its closest approach to our forecast area Sunday night into Monday. Rains associated with Barry may spread into far eastern OK and western AR through Monday. Heaviest rains will remain much further east. After the remnants of Barry depart, mid level height rises will occur over the region and will mark the beginning of what will be a long stretch of hot and dry weather. Heat headlines may be needed by Wednesday, likely continuing at least into next weekend. Detailed Forecast: Sunday Night A 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7pm.
