Local cadets give back to community

(TULSA, Okla.) Cadets taking part in the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office’s July Detention Officer Academy gave back to their community Thursday, by serving food to needy families. They handed out groceries at the Food Pantry at Common Ground Church. They also helped folks carry food to their vehicles.
Common Ground runs the 3rd largest food pantry in Oklahoma, feeding between 400-500 people each week. The church typically relies on a team of 50+ volunteers to meets the needs of hungry families across Tulsa County.
The eight cadets are scheduled to graduate from the Detention Officer Academy on August 1st.
Thursday’s volunteer opportunity served as the cadet’s community service project. The purpose of the community service project is to teach the cadets a sense of service to their community.
The CG Food Pantry gives out food every Monday from 6-8pm and every Thursday from 10am-Noon.
