(TULSA, Okla.) On Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., officers responded to shots heard at the O’Reilly Auto Parts at 6707 E. Admiral Pl. The La Quinta Inn security officer was patrolling the hotel parking lot and had noticed a black car backed in by the south property fence. Seeing the car as suspicious he blocked it in with his car and a short time later suspect, 21-year-old Justus Murphy, came running around the fence carrying loot from O’Reilly’s with employees giving chase. The guard tried to stop Murphy who jumped in his car, moved around the security vehicle, and drove toward the guard. The security officer jumped on the hood on the car and pointed his pistol at Murphy while ordering him to stop. Murphy accelerated through the parking lot and produced a pistol which he pointed at the security officer who fired two rounds through the front windshield of the car striking the center console. Murphy stopped the car, threw down his gun, and ran from the vehicle. The security officer gave chase and captured Murphy somewhere in the construction zone at Sheridan and I-244. Murphy was transported to D.L. Moss where he was booked for assault with a dangerous weapon, pointing a deadly weapon, possession of marijuana, and petit larceny.
