Officer struck by drunk driver while looking for cow

(TULSA, Okla.) On Monday at approximately 2:10 a.m., Tulsa Police officers were dispatched to check for a cow in the roadway in the area of 1700 E 46th SN. An officer arrived in the area and began searching for the cow by traveling east on 46th SN towards Lewis Ave.
While searching, a vehicle traveling at a much higher rate of speed than the officer struck him from behind at Yorktown and 46th SN sending both vehicles a significant distance east and disabling both vehicles as they came to a rest off of the roadway.
When other officers arrived they found the officer was moving but complaining of soreness in his neck. The other involved vehicle was found to be driven by a female that at first refused to identify herself. There were several containers of alcoholic beverages in her car and she had a strong odor of intoxicants on her person.
EMSA responded and treated both the officer and the other driver at the scene but indicated that additional treatment might be necessary. The officer and suspect were transported by EMSA to an area hospitals.
During further investigation at the scene the driver was identified as Demetria Thompson. Officers got a blooddraw for a DUI investigation.
The officer was treated and released while Mrs. Thompson was booked into the Tulsa County Jail for DUI Injury Accident.
