Suspected rapist back in custody

(TULSA, Okla.) Officers received information reference the location of Darryl Sanders (C12546) for the past couple of nights.  Sanders is a DOC escapee who has Felony Warrants for Rape and Kidnapping. Sanders has been seen at the Osage Casino and different Qt locations in the area. On Saturday just before 2 a.m., the security guard at the QT located at 4545 N. Lewis Ave. called dispatch and stated that Sanders was at the store in his grey Grand Am (OK HKQ-253).  Officers saturated the area, contacted Police 1, and K-9 but did not locate the vehicle. Officers then set up on major intersections in the Adam squad area. Just before 4 a.m. Ofc. Switzer (C102) was set up at the doctor’s office at 3600 N. MLK Blvd.  At that time, she witnessed the listed suspect vehicle traveling west on 36th St. N. towards the Osage Casino. Ofc. Switzer activated her overhead lights and the suspect vehicle pulled onto the Casino property and stopped. After giving several verbal commands the suspect vehicle accelerated and drove through the parking lot to the North West side of the property.  At that point the driver, Darryl Sanders and his passenger, Phillip Reed ran from the car north into the woods. Osage Deputies were notified by dispatch that Sanders was probably heading to the casino and they were on scene as TPD officers entered the property.  A perimeter was established, and K9 Officers Kite and James were on scene within minutes. Ofc. Maxey, K9 Officer Kite, and his partner Loki began to search the wooded are and located Sanders a short time later. With the help of Loki, Sanders was taken into custody and transported to OSU Medical Center.  Sanders was booked for his DOC warrant, Rape warrant, and Kidnapping warrant.
