One woman is dead and a man injured after a wreck in Okmulgee County Tuesday evening.

Troopers said Matthew Nix, 31, of Morris was headed north on State Highway 52 a half mile south of Herrick Road, six miles north of Morris, when he drove off the road to the right and hit a guardrail.

Nix’s passenger, Darla Maxwell, 36, of Okmulgee was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Nix had minor injuries.

Troopers said Nix was on drugs, and that the cause of the wreck was DUI.

The wreck remains under investigation.
