Man arrested for extorting minors for nude photos nationwide

Canadian County Sheriff’s Office investigators assisted law enforcement nationwide to arrest Samuel Polan, 40, from Oregon.

We’re told the investigation started in October of last year, when a victim told police in Piedmont that Polan was extorting a minor for nude photographs.

Investigators said they went undercover as a 14-year-old girl, and Polan also tried to extort photos from them.

Polan was allegedly operating out of Oregon, using social media to lure children into his scheme nationwide.

Victims were located in Oregon, North Carolina and Michigan, along with Oklahoma, including a mother in North Carolina who confessed to sending Polan nude photograph’s of her 7-year-old daughter.

“It does not surprise me Polan had multiple victims across our nation,” said Canadian County Sheriff Chris West. “He used every opportunity to gain the trust of our precious children for his sick fantasy. I am proud of our ICAC program as it helped to bring Polan to justice.”

Polan was previously convicted in Oregon two times for crimes against children and is currently a registered sex offender.

On November 16, Polan was extradited to Canadian County to face charges of Lewd Acts with a Child Under 16 and Facilitating Sexual Conduct with a Minor by Use of Technology.

Officials said before Polan was extradited to Canadian County, he was convicted in Oregon for multiple counts of Using a Child in Display of Sexually Explicit Conduct and was sentenced to seventy months.

He is currently being held without bond.
