Elderly man dies after making U-turn in middle of highway

Troopers said the wreck happened Friday morning just before 5:30 on State Highway 20 a few miles west of Claremore in Rogers County. We’re told Ray Jenkins, 91, of Claremore was driving east on SH20 when he made a U-turn and then headed west in the eastbound lanes, striking another vehicle. Jenkins was pronounced dead at a local hospital about an hour later. The driver of the other vehicle, Kyle Townsend, 31, of Collinsville, was taken to a Tulsa hospital with head, trunk, internal and external injuries. He is expected to survive.
