Murder-suicide under investigation in Broken Arrow

(BROKEN ARROW, Okla.) Update: Police say the female victim in this case has been identified as 66-year-old Diane Carpenter. The deceased suspect has been identified as her husband, 56-year-old Kenneth Carpenter. The couple lived together where the crimes took place.  

Two people are dead following a stand-off situation in Broken Arrow Thursday. 

Broken Arrow Police say they were responding to a welfare check in the 2700 Block of West Imperial just before 4 p.m. when they discovered a deceased female inside the home. 

They say they also found a male suspect armed with a knife. 

We're told the male went back into the home and refused to come back outside. 

Police say the Special Operations Team arrived and began to try to contact the suspect without success. 

He was later discovered dead with apparent "self-inflicted wounds". 

The case remains under investigation. 

It is the second murder-suicide for Broken Arrow in recent times. Earlier this month, a crew demolished the home where two adults and six children died in a murder-suicide last October.
