(TULSA, Okla.) On Monday, Mayor G.T. Bynum, members of the Tulsa City Council, and the Tulsa Global Alliance unveiled a new Sister City directional sign outside Tulsa City Hall.

The new sign, which is Tulsa’s fifth, was installed in honor of the late Cathy Izzo, who served as the Sister Cities Program Coordinator for Tulsa Global Alliance for 17 years.

“Thanks to Cathy Izzo’s inspiration, we now have a Sister Cities directional sign right outside the doors of Tulsa City Hall,” Mayor G.T. Bynum said. “This sign and others like it in Tulsa remind me of our city’s global presence as we work to foster relationships in every continent.”

The new sign displays directional banners pointing toward Tulsa's eight international sister cities, with the distance between Tulsa and each city in miles and kilometers.

"I am delighted that there is now signage at City Hall to commemorate Tulsa's sister city partnerships and raise awareness of this important program that fosters international relationships,” said Crista Patrick, District 3 City Councilor and Council Chair. “It is especially significant as a way to honor the many contributions that Cathy Izzo made through her passion and leadership as part of the Tulsa Global Alliance."

The sign is located on the corner of 2nd and Cincinnati right outside the main entrance of Tulsa City Hall.

“Cathy had a profound and positive impact on TGA as an organization, and on our global community,” said Bob Leiser, TGA Vice President of Programs. “TGA will always remember her contributions to the organization, Tulsa’s Sister City partnerships, and the causes of citizen diplomacy and global education.”
