Man drowns trying to rescue child

(BRYAN COUNTY, Okla.) Troopers said a man is dead after trying to rescue a 10-year-old girl from the Red River Sunday evening. We’re told the child was wading in the water a quarter mile west of the Denison Dam when she was swept away by the current. 36-year-old Antonio Salazar of Denison jumped in after her but was also pushed under the water. A boater nearby was able to rescue the child, but Salazar never resurfaced. She was revived by bystanders before first responders got to the scene. Salazar’s body was recovered by Cartwright firefighters an hour and a half later.
