(TULSA, Okla.) Tulsans are invited to celebrate America Recycles Day with a free event on Nov. 16, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hicks Park, 3443 S. Mingo Rd.  This is a day to learn about recycling, sustainability and ways to take care of our environment. City of Tulsa’s Refuse and Recycling Division will have information and giveaways for those who attend. The Metropolitan Environmental Trust also will provide information about what can be recycled at their locations. Other City exhibitors at this event will include the Stormwater Quality Division, with a demonstration model to show what happens when chemicals are dumped down a storm drain, and the Water & Sewer Department with information about how to properly dispose of kitchen grease, and what happens when grease is not disposed of properly. The City Animal Welfare Shelter will have pets available for adoption from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Adoption fees are $75 for dogs and $25 for cats. Oklahoma State University will show possible items that can be made from recycled products in an exhibit called “Upcycling Crafts.” The Hardesty Fab Lab will bring a laser cutter to make ornaments out of plastic bags. OKRA (Oklahoma Recycling Association) also will have resources and information available at this event.
